Updates

I just got done giving Kona a bath and now I have an energetic puppy running all around the apartment.

Last week, I had a great time visiting with Nick's sister, Kate, and our cousins Kristin and Emily. We had a wonderful time catching up. I am so lucky to have married into a family where everyone is so loving, accepting, and fun!!!

Over the weekend, my mom, dad, and I traveled to northern Indiana for a baby shower for my best friend Kelly. My parents enjoying catching up with Kelly's parents and we had fun playing with all of the baby clothes and accessories. I can't wait to see Kelly next month for another baby shower down in Indianapolis with some of our college friends.

Nick and I enjoyed 24 hours in the Dells Monday and Tuesday. We were given a gift certificate to a spa hotel that expired at the end of August, so we redeemed our one night stay before I get busy with school stuff. We had a great time! We continued our fun with some mini golf and a tour of a winery in the area.

Nick is back into his routines at work after our lovely honeymoon. He now has a thirty minute commute to work, which isn't too bad. I think he loves living closer to home so he can enjoy spending time with his family more frequently (I know I do!).

I am starting to get back into the school mode! I am very excited (and a little nervous) for the new school. We have new teacher training next week where I will learn the in's and out's of the online gradebook program, disciplinary policies, and expectations.

Well, my wet dog is starting to dry off, I better give her a little attention.
Love to all!

New Home

We are getting settled in our new apartment and it's really beginning to feel like home. Our last apartment had hardwood floors, tall ceilings, and tall windows- the old school house felt very modern, but at times it felt very not very homey. Honestly, I never really noticed this feeling until we moved into our new apartment. Our new place has carpet, traditional height ceilings, a deck, an area for grilling, and a kitchen with a window. I feel more at home here.

Kona likes it too! She no longer cries/barks when we put her in her crate and leave. Good Puppy!

I'm clinging to my final weeks of summer. My best friend, Kelly's baby shower is next weekend at her parents' house. I am so excited to see her growing bump and enjoy our time together.

I made something great in the crockpot today- chicken breast, cream of mushroom soup, potatoes, carrots, and pees. Three hours later, I am pretty sure I had the best lunch ever......

Life is good!

Honeymoon Days 1 through 4

Days one through four on our honeymoon have been great! Here is a short little summary of each day:
Day 0: Tuesday was spent flying to London. The highlight of our flight was the movie and getting free wine. We slept for most of the flight and woke up in London at 7:30 am the next day.
Day 1: We attempted to get acclimated to our new surroundings. We enjoyed touring West Minster Abbey and making our dinner at our little apartment.

Day 2: We went on the London Eye, which is like a giant ferris wheel, a boat ride up the Thames River, and watched tennis at Wimbledon.
Day 3: We got up early and left for Paris on the chunnel which is an underground train connecting London to Paris under the English Channel. Once we arrived in Paris we toured the art museum, the Louvre. You could spend days exploring all the art there! We did see the Mona Lisa!!

Day 4: We slept in a little late, hopefully we're getting adjusted to the times here. We picked up our museum passes which gave us free passes for the double-decker tour buses that go throughout the city. We enjoyed the bus which took us near the Eiffel tower. We had a champagne cruise to enjoy on the Seine River and then we hiked up the many, many, many steps to the first and second levels of the Eiffel tower. We were a little winded when we were done but the view was very nice! After that, we deciphered the puzzle that is the Metro back to our apartment. We had to switch different lines a few times and attempt to translate french with our high school Spanish and high school German backgrounds, but we made it back.

Every time we master the mass transit in the different cities we feel like we have cracked the code for getting around the city.

Alright, well I better go to bed. More updates to come later!

two months!

Holy cow, the big day is only 2 months away! I can't believe it! I had my bridal shower on Saturday and it was a great time!! Lots of family and friends! I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful people. Nick unpacked a bunch of our gifts last night, I've been busy working on a research paper and applying for jobs.

We've already put a few of our gifts to good use. We made waffles in our new waffle maker and then make bacon and eggs on our new griddle. We also made coffee in our new coffee maker! We've washed our new silverware and put a few of the new pyrex containers to good use. We are so blessed in so many different ways! Here are a few fun pictures from the day:

Lots of love!

Lots of Updates!

Hi!
Here is a quick list of updates related to the wedding plans:

1. a block of rooms has been booked at the hotel. book a room soon to lock in the awesome rate!
2. we booked a DJ!
3. we finished our pre-marital meetings with our Pastor.
4. we bought some of the glassware for candles and flower for the centerpieces. (we'll borrow the rest from friends)
5. we booked chairs for the ceremony site.
6. we booked a salon to style everyone's hair on the big day.
7. we have taken care of several other little details that will hopefully make the day just that more special.

I have been working hard to be a good deal finder! I called 20 dj's to find a good price and a good person. :) My mom and I called 15 salons and then visited 3 in person to find a good fit. We're working hard to save money, and I think we're succeeding!

OH yea! We also booked our flight for the honeymoon. London and the rest of Europe, here we come!!

Here is a picture of the Table Number and Letters that I have/will cover in yarn.
