200 days! what what!

200 days my friends! Ahhh how wonderful!! I've been busy with school work for my kiddos. Grading papers and lesson planning has been taking up the bulk of my time. Hopefully we can find some time this weekend to get our DJ stuff taken care of. :)

With 6 months and a couple of weeks left we better get going on our "to - do" list. As for now....it's back to making a worksheet for my students.

206

Well, we have 206 days until our big day! We haven't done much planning for the wedding lately. Now that we live in Wisconsin many of our weekends are spent packing up the car for a road trip to visit our parents. We love the time together but the "to do" list seems to be much longer than ever before.

As we move closer to the wedding (yes it's 6 months away) I find myself having more wedding dreams where we are not prepared.....I also seem to have more nervous thoughts. I just want this occasion to be a really beautiful celebration! I find myself worrying about which flowers to pick, the reception site, the price for the block of rooms, the chairs, and every other stupid detail you can think of.

Yes, I know it will all work out and it's not all about the wedding. Duh, the marriage is way more important!!!!!!

Wanna see the flower girl dress pattern?? My cousin Jenny is making the dresses. It helps that her daughter, Ava, is one of the flower girls. I really love these dresses and feel confident that they will look great.

The dresses will be white satin, the style will be kind of like D, E, and F. No sleeves and the jade colored sash around the waste. They will look so cute!

Okay, talking about something that is already great about the wedding is making me feel much better!

Time to get back to grading papers!

Sending love to family and friends!!

Lavender Bouquet?

Recently, I have become very interested in wedding bouquets. What do you think of lavender? I never really knew what lavender flowers looked like until recently. The look of the lavender not only matches our color scheme but I think it also adds to our simple and natural feel. I recently ordered a small arrangement of lavender just so I could see it in person and boy does it smell great! I don't think I will have a bouquet of just lavender, however, I think it HAS to be a part of the bouquet. As an added bonus, the lavender aroma has a calming effect! I think the calming smell of lavender would be welcomed on the big day! :)

378 days until the our wedding day! Almost one year away! Yipppeeee!!!!!

Invitations!

We had an opportunity to have our wedding invitations printed for free! We just had to pay for the paper and the envelopes!! We couldn't pass up this money saving opportunity!!

They're beautiful and i think they really reflect our "theme" and style. We actually designed them ourselves- we searched the internet for the design and the fonts. Then our friend Marc, put them together with a special program. They're awesome! Check them out for yourself!!

We also had reception cards (containing info about the reception) and RSVP cards printed but they look very similar with the grass design at the bottom.

We love them! The green! The design! The fonts! They're just lovely!

Sending love your way!!

425 days!

!Wow! Only 425 days away. Okay- so we still have a lot of time until we reach out big day, but I am so glad that we are waiting. This summer will be very stressful because Nick is finishing his thesis and graduating, I will be looking for a new teaching job, Nick will be pursuing a job and we will be moving (most likely to a new state). Yikes...when I type that all together it makes me feel a little stressed. Deep breaths. Just think, one year from now we will be much more established! Nick and I enjoy dreaming about out big day, it has been very fun to be engaged and enjoy the journey!

Nick and I recently read about a unique type of men's wedding ring that contains parts of a meteorite!! Yes, a meteorite....from space! Wouldn't this be perfect for Nick?

Check out the website that has the meteorite rings for sale!!
http://www.jewelrybyjohan.com/meteorite_rings.htm

As for me, I am still dreaming about what my wedding band will look like. I think we have plenty of time before we need to truly worry about that!

Lots of love!

Guitar or Cello/Violin or Both or What?

We have been dreaming about our wedding music lately. What will we have? We have a very talented friend who could sing and play the guitar. We have access to a couple local high school kids who plays cello and violin.

The cello/violin has a traditional touch and feel. Which is something both Nick and I desire. However, guitar music would just fit perfectly outside AND we love guitar music! Hmmm.....

Back to dreaming and enjoying life. 440 days left!!

THE DRESS

We got the dress! What it looks like must remain a secret until the big day! I have shown a few family and friends but Nick must remain in the dark. It's so hard to keep it a secret. I wish that I could tell Nick all about it! I know he'll love it.

I tried on 10 dresses. "The One" was the third dress I tried on. I didn't know right away but I knew that it was my favorite of all of the dresses. The second time I put the dress on, I cried. It was at that point that I knew. :)

It really feels great to have the dress!

More lovely things

I really like this little "do it yourself" project. I am thinking we could use different size glass containers and decorate them with green or purple papers. Then we could put candles inside them and it would give off a beautiful huge of color around the room. For centerpieces, we don't really want flowers at every table--- we like the idea of some tables having flowers and some with just candles....I am posting the link for the project here so I have it for the future!

Flowers

I really like this bouquet of flowers. They're beautiful! Don't you think they'd look pretty in front of a white dress? It doesn't really match the colors we have chosen for our big day but I don't think I mind that. Plus there is a nice little tutorial on how you can actually make this bouquet yourself! I am posting the link for the tutorial here so that I have it for the future! One of our family friends has actually offered to arrange the flowers for us! We are really thankful to have such helpful, ambitious and loving friends and family!!

A few engagement pictures

Nick and I took engagement pictures with our friend Sarah! We really like them!

We had fun around the Ball State campus. Although that I will admit that after about an hour and a half, my mouth was getting tired of smiling.

Nick really likes this one.

Sarah is going to edit the rest of the pictures and give us a CD with all of the images on it. I will post some more when we get them!

Enjoying Life

Well- we've been busy with regular life lately. Nick has started his new classes and began officially writing his thesis. I have had grades to enter for report cards, new classes, new students and just the day to day stuff to focus on. A reminder of why we are waiting until next year to get married. I am sure we will not regret taking this time to enjoy life.

We recently visited Wisconsin for a big Bridal Expo. During our visit we were able to tour the InnTowner where we are having our reception and visit Blue Mounds State Park where we are having the ceremony. Here are some pictures from our visit.

Blue Mounds State Park, where the ceremony will be held. We can remove the grills for the big day. And hopefully there won't be any snow in June. :)

Our parents on our trek to the ceremony site. The roads were snowed in, so we had to hike through the snow. (After we tried to drive through anyways and got stuck)

Nick, Me, Daniel, Kate, Judy and my mom at the InnTowner! We were able to walk through the area before the Bridal Expo. We feel so pumped to have already booked this spot. We LOVE it!

We are continuing to save money where we can! Our friend, Marc, is going to print our invitations for free for his Senior Print Project (he is a printing/telecommunications major...or something like that). We are so lucky to have him as a resource- all we need to do is pay for the paper!

Okay, I must refocus. Have a good day!

528 days!

Did we mention we're excited? Excited doesn't even do the big day justice! Nick and I are adjusting to referring to each other as fiances. After 7 years as boyfriend and girlfriend, it might take some time. I am excited for the weekend- the wedding expo and a walk through at our reception site. Is this a dream?

I am especially excited to share this weekend with our families. In both of our families we are the oldest children and the first to get married. I hope that this experience will be as enjoyable for our families as it has been for us.

Time to refocus on the here and now. Nick and I both have school work. Nick has homework for his Electrodynamics class and I have to organize some notes and grade some papers. I am so glad we are waiting until next summer! It allows us to enjoy ourselves, plan and refocus.

Colors

Nick and I love green! Green can come in many different shades and Nick and I like them all. ha ha. For the big day we're thinking several shades of greens and deep purples. Green and Purple were actually my Great Grandparent's (Grant & Grace) wedding colors, so there is some sentiment there. :)

Here is a picture of a wedding cake we kind of like...we especially like the colors. ha ha

There is a big wedding expo in Madison this weekend! Nick and I are excited to get together with our families and check out the expo! We also get to walk through our reception site at the InnTowner and Highland Club! And put a down payment down......

Alright- that's enough wedding stuff for one night. Gotta get back to work.
